Dream “out loud” with your entire family.  Turn off the T.V. and share your vision, share your dreams!  Yes, I’m talking about the family getting together and talking about positives.  Not fighting or sorting out problems, but getting together simply for the sake of sharing.

Just for tonight, don’t worry about how or why you want your dream. Just dream it, share it, and enjoy it.  Encourage your kids by setting the tone that we don’t have to worry about how it will be accomplished, or even if it’s practical.  No explaining, just enjoying! Wishes and dreams are essential for mental growth, just as exercising is for physical health.

It’s so important for your kids to know that it’s safe for them to open up and share their dreams with you. Many parents wonder why their kids won’t talk to them.  Oftentimes it’s because we want them to make sense or act like adults, we never just let them share their dreams.

When your child has the knowledge you are listening to them, they gain the freedom to speak thoughts as they pop into their minds — a learned talent that will serve them well into adulthood.

When you listen to what's really on your child's mind, you glean much insight into how their minds are working, and what is working through their minds. You can guide them to activities they may have mentioned as an after-thought during these easy sort of discussions-without-an-agenda.

I recommend a weekly tell-a-vision party to keep communication with your children and teenagers fun and creative.  With this insight into your child’s dreams, you get the opportunity to encourage them to be all they can be.  Dream big!  Dream out loud!

Your consistent encouragement, indeed guidance, to dream big, spills over into their everyday lives when you are not together. Your child may be the motivator to another child, an entire classroom, or even school, to come together and make a difference!
