As we look at leadership skills and practices, there is a lot to be learned from a business model. As a parent, consider yourself the CEO of your company. I know this might sound strange; after all families are not corporations! The last thing we need is to turn a deeply personal matter into something impersonal like a work environment.
And yet, there are some aspects we can draw from to help us practice leadership. To define essential characteristics of a successful CEO, we find that they:
· Effectively utilize team member’s strengths for the benefit of the company
· Clearly communicate their vision of the “ideal scene” for the organization
· Create a mission statement defining their purpose
· Describe their desired outcomes on an ongoing basis
· Allow for a learning curve while all are settling in to a new process
The Family Meeting Kit contains the tools you need to guide your family to their highest potential. A strong leader knows he cannot do it alone; he knows that to achieve the family he desires he must lead them into it. Consider this quote from Lao Tzu:
You too can be a successful leader. In fact, you have leadership skills already. With a little knowledge and guidance, your dreams become your vision and you will create a clear path towards them. You will be able to handle difficulties in an unemotional and compassionate manner. You will see the end from the beginning and be prepared for every bump in the road.
Become a great leader; gain an understanding of where you are right now and where you would like to go. Add this focus to a plan of action and you will be an unstoppable parent/CEO.

A leader is best when people barely know he exists, when his work is done,
his aim fulfilled, they will say: we did it ourselves.
