At first, journaling may seem like more homework or something that you have no interest in doing. But here is one very interesting exercise that can change the way you think, behave, and feel. Yes, just from writing, you can see great changes happen. Even if this seems silly or boring, I encourage you to give this a try. The fun thing is, you don’t even have to believe it will work for it to help you!
Oftentimes, it’s simply a matter of getting what’s on your mind out onto a piece of paper where you can take a look at it. Just this one step alone is very effective. Add to that a daily practice of writing with a specific intention, and you’re heading towards your dreams with your hands on the steering wheel.
Every morning, in your journal, write a letter to me or someone you know who is completely supportive of you. This is important as we sometimes sabotage ourselves with doubt and fear as we tap into our imagination and uncover our hopes and dreams. I hold a higher vision for you and your family without judgment of whatever you’ve done in the past or mistakes you think you’ve made. I want you to uncover your dreams and move towards them.
Remember that every moment holds the opportunity for a new beginning. You get to start fresh every day and every time you pick up a pen and start writing. I encourage you to dream big and allow your desires to flow.
The process of handwriting on paper combined with sending it off to a supportive person is a powerful way to magnetize your desires. Include everything about your relationship with your parents that you can think of. Any conversations or way that they speak to you can be flipped around to your liking in your letters. Any demands or yelling that has occurred in the past can be changed in your letters to the kind of respectful communication you desire.
The goal here is for you to identify what you’d like to change and to head towards it in your mind and on the paper. Just because things were bad in the past does not mean they will happen that way in the future. By focusing and writing, you will be much clearer about exactly how you’d like you and your parents to get along.
Your daily letter will be a projection into the future as if changes have already happened. Write the letter as if you are already there. By putting this into our consciousness, it brings the attitude of having achieved these things into the present. It will also lead you towards those intentions for the future.
